It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Doug Johnston, at the age of 82. A devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather and loyal friend.

Doug lived a life defined by hard work, dedication, and love for those closest to him. In the commercial fishing industry for almost 70 years, he spent many years on the water, embracing the challenges and rewards of a profession he was proud to call his own. The lake was more than his workplace - it was a part of him.

Beloved husband of Helen (Moore) for 63 years. Proud father of Rob (Polly), Tracy (Chris), and Kellie (Ed). The Proudest Grandpa to his six grandsons; Andrew, Derek, Dylan, Aiden, Ryan, and Ethan. Dear brother of his twin Don, Jack (Gerry), and Sandra.

Our family would like to thank the staff of Wheatley Meadows Manor for their love and support over his last few months. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Erie Shores Hospice. We will always be grateful for the exceptional care provided during Doug’s final days. Your dedication, kindness and compassion brought great comfort to our entire family.

Visiting at the Reid Funeral Home, 14 Russell Street, Leamington (519-326-2631) on Thursday, June 4, 2026 from 5-8 p.m. Visitation continues Friday, June 5 at 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 am.
