This week, the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory handed down a decision that could have major consequences for our justice system. The Court confirmed that Local Court judges have the power to adjourn or stay proceedings where a defendant cannot access legal representation. In simple terms, if someone cannot obtain a lawyer, their case may not be able to proceed.

Surely Christians can’t be experiencing discrimination in Australia, right? After all, Australia has a long Christian heritage. Churches are found in every community. Christian schools educate hundreds of thousands of students. Christian charities care for the vulnerable, feed the hungry and support those in crisis.
