How do I know, other than my fish dying, that they are getting enough oxygen.

I raised my water lvl up to the black edge so that you cant see a water line. Before the water would fall about 2-3 inches from the filter and would produce a lot of bubbles. Now, not so many.

I was reading Tropical fish Hobbyist Magazine and I went directly to Takashi Amano section to look at his aquascapes. I noticed in his data of his set-ups, he adds aeration for 14 hrs after lights are out. I would like to know for any other reason besides off gassing CO2 and creating more O2?

Bent Comet
I have a comet in a 6000L pond with koi and IR sharks. This particular fish has been in this pond for about 4 years and was otherwise doing fine. My first thought was Nitrate poisoning. The past few months have been particularly dry and the level of water in the pond has dropped by 10". So the nitrate level may well have increased. But a water test shows nitrate at about 10ppm. ...

I have a Betta fish in a 20L planted tank. He's been around for almost 2 years and I have recently noticed a slow down in activity. Less enthusiastic at feeding time, spends most of the time hanging around on a leaf. This morning he didn't even bother to eat. I can't see any external sign of illness. Could it be just ageing? What signs should I be looking for?
