June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada, a time to recognize and learn about the rich histories, cultures, traditions, contributions, and perspectives of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. One of the most effective ways to do this is through picture books, which help bring important Indigenous stories, experiences, and perspectives into the classroom.

This week I’m excited to be sharing some of my favourite 2026 picture books so far! (Yes, there are more than 10!)

I remain endlessly inspired by the creativity, beauty, and heart found in picture books. And honestly, the number of extraordinary books being published every year continues to amaze me. It feels almost impossible to keep up with them all!
